My Bio
Rob Tokarz is a Los Angeles-based artist originally from Chicago. He holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts where he studied Theatrical Design and Scenic Art. Now he divides his time between painting and working in film design, using each to support the other.

Painting is inherently an act of synthesis. Painting portraiture allows him to relate a personality through the artist's eyes and translate that onto canvas. His fascination with the human form is an opportunity to converse, to learn stories, and attempt to tell them. The colors, patterns, lines, and abstractions are his language, one that he is constantly moving to advance and hone. The canvas is mere painting - the art is the people that inspire them.

I have so many thoughts running through my head that I can't get them down fast enough, so much not fast enough that I must put the pencil aside for fear of overwhelming myself. The plight, however, comes in the production. Being that all i have is my tiny room and the sporadicly available art studio and money, I am lacking in the actual "churning out" of work. TO me, it's most important to be c
